Community Nursing Homes are 24-hour

Community Nursing Homes are 24-hour inpatient services for frail, disabled, or elderly veterans whose care needs exceed those of home care.

They provide a full-time staff throughout the week to assist with personal hygiene, bathing, and rehabilitation.

Services include: occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiotherapy, dietary management, and social services.

Target Audience and Care Duration:
Serving veterans of various ages (from 42 to 95 years old).

Supporting those requiring only short-term therapy (such as after amputation or hip fracture) to those needing full-time, long-term care.

There are different types of contracts: 45-day or indefinite contracts for veterans with 60% or more disability or service-related disability between 70% and 100%.

Supervision and Quality Assurance:
Emmausvillage Nursing Homes require qualified medical staff to visit veterans at the nursing home monthly.

Social workers and nurses will check hygiene, review medical records, and speak with management, nurses, and service staff to ensure the quality of care is commensurate with the cost.

Comprehensive nursing home inspections are conducted annually.

Benefits for Veterans:
Helps patients stay close to their families and receive necessary support.

One veteran shared that he feels secure having a place to stay, three meals a day, and immediate assistance if he happens to fall, something he might have to wait longer for back home.

The ultimate goal is to help veterans improve their health so they can return to their communities and homes.
